Since the early 2010s, Mr. Jung Woo Sung has begun to pay attention to deep social problems. Therefore, in June 2015, he was officially appointed as the first Goodwill Ambassador of the South Korean High Commissioner for Refugees.

UNHCR is an organization under the General Assembly of the United Nations and the United Nations Economic & Social Council.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassadors (UNHCR) are famous figures representing the UNHCR and use their talents and reputation to support refugees.

Being well aware of this, Ambassador Jung Woo Sung hopes that he can spread good things and increase awareness of the community and society towards refugees in particular and those with less fortunate living circumstances in general. “I hope we can open our hearts to each other more…to share, love and care for each other more…” said he.

Our JWSA Foundation’s Founder shared: “I think our Korean society needs to be more open to Refugees…They are normal people like us and much braver than us. No one was born in this life, wishing for a life that even the word “homeland” cannot name….. No one born in this life wants to live in a society where even the basic needs can not be accessed…We are all human, used to be once small, weak, fragile embryos from our Moms’womb…we used to spend so many dark days, struggling to form….so why don’t we empathize with Refugees including children who have been yearning for the right to live, study and dream of a bright future…..Why don’t we empathize and open our hearts to them more…..We should join hands with any help in our abilities to support them to access to life more easily, specifically the needs of accessing to Education, Health, Shelter, community activities, Sports…

I myself am well aware of my responsibility in the role of Ambassador and the values that we have been contributing to the community, to the society…Therefore, we have been and will be stronger and stronger so as to contribute what we can…in our abilities to help Refugees find their own lives…recover a normal life with simple happiness like us.

And through JWSA Charity and Education Project, we hope to not only help Refugees around the world access to education, but also that is our heart sharing with the community…who truly sympathize and share the same heart and love with us.
